3rd Kalasag DRRM challenge

As part of the celebration of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2023, the Provincial Government of Tarlac, headed by Governor Susan Yap, together with the Tarlac Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMC), conducted the 3^rd Kalasag DRRM Response and Rescue Challenge last September 27 at the Jose V. Yap Sports & Recreational Complex, San Jose, Tarlac (formerly TRP).

The challenge is a yearly event where emergency response teams from Tarlac’s Local Government Units (LGUs), uniformed personnel, volunteer groups, and schools showcase their strengths through exhibits and friendly competition.

The program lasted for five days from September 25 to 29, consisting of the activities prepared by the Tarlac PDRRMC: Static Display Competition, DRRM Quiz Bee, Basic Life support with CPR, Mass Casualty Incident, Water Search and Rescue, and Rescue Relay.

Tarlac second district Congressman Christian Tell Yap who graced the opening ceremonies thanked all the organizations who participated in the DRRM challenge.

“Unang-una nagpapasalamat kami nina Governor Susan Yap sa lahat ng mga organization na sumali dito, at sa mga MDRRMO ng iba’t-ibang municipio ng probinsya, yung mga partners din tayo mula sa uniform personnel, mga airforce nandiyan ang mga army of course mga kasama rin natin sa private sector na nag sama-sama para lalo pong tumaas ang kapasidad ng ating mga rescue response ng mga iba’t ibang organization,”

Winners

The municipality of Victoria won the Static Display competition with Concepcion crowned as Quiz Bee champions. Capas was named winner of the LGU/MDR category; Tarlac Police Provincial Office (TPPO) as winner of the Uniformed Personnel category; Tarlac Agricultural University is the champion under the NGO/Volunteer Group category; Mass Casualty Incident (LGU/MDR) category winner is Capas; TPPO is the Mass Casualty Incident category (Uniformed Personnel) winner; Mass Casualty Incident category (NGO/Volunteer Group) champion is the Tarlac Mountaineering Club (TMC).

In the Wasar (LGU/MDRR) category, Victoria is the over-all champion; Wasar (Uniformed Personnel) category went to TPPO; Wasar (NGO Volunteer) category winner is TMC; BLS and CPR category winner is Gerona; BLS and CPR category (Uniformed Personnel) went to TPPO while in the BLS and CPR category (NGO/Volunteer Group) winner is the Parish Emergency Disaster Assistance and Response Team.

The municipality of Concepcion was the over-all champs in the LGU/MDR category; TPPO was adjudged over-all champion in the Uniformed Personnel category while in the NGO/Volunteer Group category, TMC was the over-all champion.

The Tarlac PDRRMO is headed by Marvin Guaing.
