THE Department of Agriculture-Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization [PhilMech] under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund [RCEF] Mechanization Program turned-over farm equipment to the Provincial Government of Tarlac which in turn, distributed to Tarlac farmers in a ceremony held at the Provincial Evacuation Center on October 21.
The farm tractors and Combine Harvesters were distributed to farmer-cooperatives aimed at lowering the cost of production of agricultural produce.
The awarding and turn-over ceremony was led by Governor Susan Yap, Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David, third district Representative Noel Villanueva, Tarlac City Mayor Cristy Angeles, DA Regional Executive Director Crispulo Bautista, Philmech Director Baldwin Jallorina, and Provincial Agriculturist Alicia Cruz.
Gov. Yap thanked RCEF and PhilMech for the farm equipment saying that these [equipment] will certainly boost the agricultural production of Tarlac farmers.
“To the DA, RCEF, PhilMech, a lot of thanks as this will surely help of farmers in their agricultural production,” she said.
The farm Mechanization Program was conceptualized through R.A. 11203 or the Rice Tariffication Law authored by Senator Cynthia Villar.
For his part, Vice Gov. David said, “Ang pagpapaunlad sa agrikultura ay isa sa mga mahahalagang sektor sa ating lalawigan na higit pong binibigyan pansin at pagpapahalaga ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Tarlac. Ang pagpapa-angat po sa kita at kabuhayan ng bawat magsasaka ay magbibigay ng malaking kontribusyon sa pag unlad ng ating probinsya.”
Also present during the ceremony were Board Members Joy Gilbert Lamorena, Danilo Asiaten and Antonio Cervantes Jr., former Board Member Harmes Sembrano and DA Regional Office Staff.
