GOVERNOR Susan Yap will again run unopposed in next year’s May 2022 elections after no one filed a Certificate of Candidacy for governor during the period of filing from October 1 to 8.
This will be the second straight election that no one opposed Gov. Yap in her re-election bid.
Gov. Yap, a Nationalist Peoples Coalition [NPC] stalwart will serve her third and last term starting July 1 next year with Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David as her running-mate likewise seeking his third and last term of office.
In her official Facebook page, Gov. Yap thanked Tarlaqueños for their trust and confidence in her.
You make government service worth it, Tarlaqueños. Taos puso po akong nagpapasalamat sa mga naniniwala sa akin at kaagapay ko po kayo sa lahat ng matatamasang kaunlaran ng ating lalawigan,” she said in her Facebook post.
Gov. Yap first won as second district Representative in 2010 as a replacement candidate for her father, one of Tarlac’s political icon Jose “Aping” Yap who died of a lingering illness before the campaign period started.
She was re-elected as representative in 2013 before being elected as governor in 2016. In 2019, she run unopposed for her second term as the province’ chief executive.
