Davao City Mayor and vice presidential aspirant Sara Duterte-Carpio is confident that former Department of National Defense chief Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. will win a Senate seat in the coming May 2022 elections.
In her online show “Sara for All of You” aired on Monday, Duterte-Carpio, the eldest daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte vouched for Teodoro, describing the senatorial aspirant as “The One That Got Away” in the 2010 elections.
Teodoro ran for president in the 2010 elections under the Lakas-CMD but lost to his cousin, late president Benigno “NoyNoy” Aquino III.

Thanking Duterte-Carpio, Teodoro, a native of Paniqui in Tarlac province, said he was hoping that in this year’s elections, he will be “the one that was captured na sana or the one that can help.”
Teodoro led the defense department under then President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s administration from 2007 to 2009.
He was also a member of the House of Representatives as Tarlac first district congressman from 1998 to 2007.
In his November visit to his home province, provincial and municipal officials led by Governor Susan Yap vowed to go all-out in support of Teodoro’s bid for a senate seat.
Teodoro topped the bar examinations in 1989.
